In any timeline where the USA loses some "homeland" territory to secession, it is inevitable that more balkanization will happen, resulting in (at best) more revolutions or (at worse) total balkanization, until only a rump state will be left.
This is most obvious in CSA victory scenarios, where it is absolutely inevitable that California or Deseret will win independence (New England is a likelihood), but that is just due to the sheer quantity of CSA victory scenarios in the first place. In a New England secession or Deseret independence scenario, it's just as likely.
